H F Walk over Ashurst Beacon and Parbold

Crown Walking Club members are invited to an H F walk led by David Thompson which takes place on Sunday 9th August. Details are as follows : –

Park in the approach road that leads to Appley Bridge Railway Station ( Grid Ref. 524093 ) This is found by taking the A5209 from Standish, turning left onto B5375 at ‘ Dangerous Corner ‘. After half a mile, at a road junction take the right turn down the hill towards the canal. Railway station is on the left as you go down the hill.

The walk will take us over Ashurst Beacon and to Parbold along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. Then up to Harrock Hill and back to Appley Bridge via High Moor and the Fairy Glen. Distance is 11 miles, but can be made shorter if necessary. There are good views and lots of interest. Start time is 10.30 am. Suggested meeting time is about 10.15am

  1. Hi, very interested in this walk details, trying to find a walk incorporating both parbold and Ashurst Beacon can find one or other. Can you point me in direction of a more detailed decription of walk and maybe a printable map.
